Gro Dark Choc Chunk Cookies review

Every time we pop into Co-op at the moment they seem to have a new addition to their Gro range. The particular Co-op we mention is opposite a sports centre, so they always seem to be able to catch us at our weakest when we want a post-exercise sugar rush.

Last time, they tempted us with a vegan ice cream selection and this time we were strong right until we got to the row of snacks by the checkouts before picking up a pack of cookies.

So, how are they? In a word they're good. They taste and look like cookies which is always a good start! Truthfully, they're not going to win any awards, but if you have a sweet craving, these will satisfy it. With these, you could probably tell they're plant-based in a blind taste test. They just don't quite have the richness that you get from a sweet treat with dairy products in, but there's really no complaints.

Amy mentioned, while we were drafting this review, that she thinks these cookies are a little too sweet for her, but that's a personal preference thing and James hadn't notice that.

We've had these a couple of times now and we don't feel like we're missing out at all! You could easily swap these for the bag of branded cookies you get from a local supermarket like the Galaxy or Smarties ones and you wouldn't feel short-changed.

Rating: 7 / 10

A good alternative that won't leave you disappointed.
